Letter from the President

Dear First-Year Student:

Welcome to Boise State University. In the history of higher education in America, students on the campus have endured all forms of initiation aimed at preparing students for the road ahead. At Boise State, our first-year orientation takes on a much different tone.

We ask you to read a book and be prepared to discuss it with your fellow students, faculty and staff when you arrive for class.

Our intent with this assignment is to give you an early indication of our priorities and values at Boise State. We know that your college years at Boise State will be incredible experiences, but we want to remind you that taking your studies seriously is the most important goal for you this year. Among other discoveries you will make about college life is the fact that you will spend more time reading than you ever have in your life. Again, this book is just a reminder of the importance of the book to your learning and a first assignment for you to learn more about yourselves and the world in which we live.

Enjoy the read and we look forward to coming together as a campus community to discuss and learn from the lessons of this most inspiring book.

Sincerely,

Bob Kustra
President

The site has good and useful information, but is VERY difficult to read with the dark type on dark background. I realize that artistically it fits with the book, but my elderly eyes can't deal with it. Just a good general thing to be aware of. We're not all 22 any more.
